CFQ level one - more details.

CFQ level one consists of a small number of standing, seated and walking movements. Most of the standing movements belong to a set called the hexagram dance.

This has seven movements. Each is very simple and lasts only a few seconds.

1) Flying Cloud Hands.
2) Touching the Jade Belt
3) Happy Heaven, Happy Earth.
4) O My Precious
5) No Strings Attached
6) Prosperity, Success, Longevity
7) Heaven's Gift of Gold

One complete hexagram dance consists of ten each of the first five movememnts, and five each of the last two, and takes ten to fifteen minutes.

There are also a couple of seated movements, called the butterfly shake and happy body. These are also very simple and straightforward and can be learned in seconds.

There is also a set of stretches for the arms and legs known as the "gibbon" and a walking practice called the Lotus Walk.

A standard Wednesday practice class will consist of doing multiple repetitions of two or three of the hexagram moves, plus either the stretches or some seated practice, often ending with some lotus walking.

Beginners are welcome to arrive half an hour early to get an introduction to the principles and the first two or three movements before the main class starts.

The basic movements can be learned very easily. Beginners will probably need about four classes to be able to practice all the movements at home with confidence. Practice is needed for the movements to become ever more soft and smooth, and for the attention to gradually move away from thought and into feeling what is happening.

The weekend days with Simon, in addition to teaching some of the movements, will go into greater depth about how to be fully present while doing the movements, to ensure maximimum benefit.
